Education systems.

Hello readers

We are back with yet another topic of discussion, actually one of the most discussed topic around the world and still an issue in many countries around the world.

We would like to discuss about education and education systems around the world and in specific comparison of all other education system when compared to India.

The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives, says Robert Maynard Hutchins ,an American educator and philosopher.

We have heard many thoughts about education, like this one:education is the one which helps when we have forgotten what we have learnt!

Also, school is not the preparation for life, school is life, and so on.

We do understand that education is a very important step in the life of an individual in these modern times.

If we talk about some education systems followed around the world, places like the United States,Canada ,Germany,London we see one thing in common in all the places that is ,they are very much standardised and also rated the best universities in the world ,and it is recorded that U.S is now has the biggest number of immigrants in the world ,for pursuing their higher studies.

None the less even Canadian schools and the German educational institutions are known for their discipline and creating successful individuals in all the disciplines of education .

Now lets talk about Indian Education System ,it is actually unfortunate that the land where it was known for the best intellects in the world ,and where great ancient scientists like Aryabhatta, Bhaskara, and the great biologist like Charaka, is now facing a problem at the grass root level.

Each and every child has the right to get a quality education. Especially in our country majority of them are rural based. The rural children will be hungry for education. Their parents must be given awareness at first to encourage their children.

The problem begins here, where the children's are ready to learn but there are no people to teach or no proper educational setup or infrastructure. The Govt school's in remote parts of India are in a very pathetic condition where there are no basic facilities provided. They don't ask for air conditioned class rooms with sophisticated technology but the need is just the basic facilities.

Teacher, the most divine position given in the Indian culture. But in today's world it's taking a different shape. To educate the children the teachers must be well versed about the subject. In Govt schools this is a big problem. Where there is no quality in teaching barring a few. And in some cases majority of them are visiting faculties where no proper attention is given to the children.

Why cant we Standardise education like the other nations, why cant the taxpayers money be spent in education and give free education like the US until 12th standard ,which they call 'Graduation'and later the student be allowed to take up his choice of education his field ,and taste and become a successful individual.?

Our education system needs to improve in many ways for example, why cant there be single syllabus ,to all indians irrespective of their states? as we know that the CBSE or the Central Board of Secondary Education is ,considered as a successful education model here, and we have personally seen our own friends and neighbours do better in life and understand concepts better, than the students who studied in state board.

There is also a need to update the syllabus and the maturity of the books given to students, when we were pursing  our graduation  we have experienced the gap in education ,and the faces the bizarre storm of the latest updation that happened when we hit corporate.

Why should out IITs and IIMs' branded as the best educational institutions in India ,why not the other institutions give the same standard as they give tin these esteemed institutions.?

Education from the age of 10 till the age of 16 shapes an individual and determines what he will become in future!

The another concern is that we should not divide the students with their IQ ,I know most of you wont agree with us ,but i am sure the students will agree ,because just take an example a person wants to become a doctor, and his aptitude in mathematics is low ,but he brilliant in biology, its very unfair if he has to study mathematics to pursue a degree to become a doctor.

The grievances are actually endless ,the simple solution is do a research ,ask good educational scientists and adopt the most successful models in the world  so  that India becomes more matured and the education given to the children here ,should be the best to be more successful.

Aggressive measures have to be taken to improve the conditions of the Govt schools. Corporates must come forward and join hands with the Govt to provide good conditions. We agree that doing is difficult than talking. But if that is case when do the conditions would improve?

Education is not only about books. It is something which is beyond that. Being a graduate shows that you are only a literate. There is a significant difference between a literate and an educated. Our country needs educates and not meet literates.

Before ending we would also like the Govt of India to take good and strict steps to condemn the opening of fake and useless institutions who are just money minded.

We would like to hear some suggestions from the readers about how to improve the quality of education in India. And also about giving awareness to the parents in rural areas. They have developed a fear, where if their children are given education they will not practice agriculture. Is this true?

Living with hope

Tejus R.S and Harish Murthy.

  1. no readers, sir, friends and wellwishers are so much better.
no sermons , sir, comparisons apply to similar situations
we have to reckon with the fact that in many loer middle class families, husbands sow the seeds and the bitter harvest is sown and nurtured by virtually single mothers.
the midday meals may promote attendance but not attention to studies.
yes, ngos could play an effective role but the larger, tantalising picture of what education entails, more independence, more opportunities for advancement in life and what they mean should be projected.
the desire to grow and the urge to evolve ned to be planted inside. case studies could be one of the means.

  2. India is known as the birth country for education.. Biggest and oldest universities were established here... But when we see today's scenario.. Our education system is worst than many others.. No proper justice for the one who scores highest.. Leave about the scores.. The way teacher teach, is just like spoon feeding, no exposure for the students to be independent.. Government taking actions towards this which don't motivate to learn, they only motivate to be in school for sake of food.
We should initiate a rural development program as I have seen that people are more enthusiastic in rural areas than in urban towards learning and education.. Small groups should be created n send to urban areas occasionally and those small groups should teach those rural area teachers rather than students the way they should help students to reach the heights not by spoon feeding.. I would like to get suggestions more on this as I'm working on some project related to this topic... Thank you

    1. At first we must identify the needs of the teachers as well as students in rural areas. Then we must have a perfect plan and execution toward the betterment.
