What happens when it rains?

Hello readers

Hope you are doing great.

Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.

W. H. Auden

Bengaluru is located in the South Indian peninsula, which is almost at the equidistant from both eastern and western coast. It is situated at an altitude of 920 m above the sea level. It receives an annual rainfall of 850mm.

Basically
Bengaluru was designed to hold more water for agriculture purpose ,we can see this by the planning of Banashankari where  the water was directed towards Chennammanakere ,but as years passed by ,the city advanced towards a growing economy and all the lakes were encroached and converted into layouts and residential areas.
Rapid and unplanned urbanization has created this problem. It has altered the drainage characteristics of drainage areas. Since then, the drainage systems are incapable to cope with increased volume of water and are facing the problems of blockages. Following methods which are primitive for disposal solid wastes could be one of the reasons for the blockages.

All these make way for flooding.Which is a serious threat for the people and as well the materials.

What happens when it rains?

This blog is actually our personal experience in Bengaluru, which is also one of the IT hubs In India.

We observed that even if it rains for a short interval of 10 minutes our drainage system is not able to handle it ,is this not very sad?no one is taking responsibility to clean these drains.

It is very miserable to see commuters struggling on the road when it rains, actually the roads look like oceans where we may have to start swimming, for instance a popular area called that central silk board, which is a major junction, which leads to many important places and also a state highway looks very messy during rainy season.
So when we were thinking about the root cause for this problem, we listed out some factors like, poor storm water management, no research and development towards stormwater harvesting.

Awareness among people is too less, leading to accumulation of waste, plastic covers which clog the drains. Never-ending gutter reconstruction projects which have only one motto which is just profit making.

There should be future thinking by the officials as the city is expanding, the commuters are increasing ,there has to a proportional development of roads and sewage systems ,also there is an increase in the pollution of our lakes which are used as drainage now which is very sad .

If we look at our neighbors China whose population ratio is more than us ,have recently signed a water recycling system which is said to absorb all the rainwater from the roads and it is used for cleaning of vehicles and gardening purposes.

We must adopt such technologies, as we receive more rain than China, we can definitely build a better system, if we think productively it is possible, we can save so much waters and also send the surplus to the rural areas where there is water scarcity.

We feel the slush can be avoided in our roads and converted into useful water if we at least start some dynamic planning from now on.

Thanks for your time.

Lights Camera Action.

Hello readers

Hope you are  doing great.

Everybody's  a filmmaker today.
-John Milius

today we wanted to talk about a cheer full topic which everyone would like to read, and the coincidence is that it is a weekend, and it’s a time for leisure and enjoyment, we all prefer to watch a movie right?

Well the topic of discussion today is about the movies, how they came into existence, the knowledge that is required to produce a movie, the techniques involved some insights on famous personalities in this field, the recent trends.

So let’s begin this short journey into  the land of Cinema.

What is a movie?

Filmmaking (or in an academic context, film production) is the process of making a film. Filmmaking involves a number of discrete stages including an initial story, idea, or commission, through scriptwriting, casting, shooting, sound recording and reproduction, editing, and screening the finished product before an audience that may result in a film release and exhibition. Filmmaking takes place in many places around the world in a range of economic, social, and political contexts, and using a variety of technologies and cinematic techniques. Typically, it involves a large number of people, and can take from a few months to several years to complete.

The concept.

The basic concept that is involved in filming is that it is a temporary event management process where many people work together, and finally disperse after the project is complete.

It is actually a herculean task ,and not an easy nut to crack, the key players involved in a movie are ,the director whose brain and idea is what started that project, the producer or we can call him the banker ,who provides funds ,the cameraman who we can call the viewer’s eye for a movie ,to become a grand success.

To be frank the list is endless, we would have seen at the end of movie the credits list is almost endless. But the key people are mentioned above.

The History of Films.

So actually when did the movies  come into existence .Let’s look at some important milestones.

· They  began as early as 1890, when the first motion picture camera was invented, and the first motion picture production companies arose.

The first motion Camera

· The movies were very minute until 1927.

· They were produced without sound!

· The first rotating camera for taking panning shots was built in

  1897.

· The first movie studio was built in 1897.

· Most films of this period were what came to be called "chase films"

· The first use of animation in movies was in 1899. The first feature length multi-reel film was a 1906 Australian production.

· The first successful permanent theatre showing only films was "The Nickelodeon" in Pittsburgh in 1905. By about 1910, actors began to receive screen credit for their roles, and the way to the creation of film stars was opened.

· The 1914 to 20s marked the birth of commercial cinema.

· The first films to consist of more than one shot appeared toward the end of the 19th century, a prominent example was the French film of the life of Jesus Christ. These weren't represented as a continuous film; the separate acts were interspersed with lantern slides, a lecture, and live vocal numbers, to increase the running time of the manifestation to about 90 minutes.

· In 1900, continuity of action across successive shots was definitively established by George Albert Smith and James Williamson, who also worked in Brighton. In that year Smith made As Seen Through a Telescope,

The first Closeup shot.

· The close up shot was first time used in this film by G.A Smith, for which he has called the pioneer of the close up.

· The first use of animation movies started in 1899.

· In 1930s the Metro Goldwyn Mayer Inc. became dominant in producing the animated cartoons which is appreciated till date.

· The first feature length multi-reel film in the world was the 1906 Australian production called The Story of the Kelly Gang.

· It traced the life of the legendary infamous outlaw and bushranger Ned Kelly (1855–1880) and ran for more than an hour with a reel length of approximately 4,000 feet (1,200 m). It was first shown at the Athenaeum Hall in Collins Street, Melbourne, Australia on 26 December 1906 and in the UK in January 1908.

After these milestones were achieved, the film industry, started climbing new heights, with the advancement in techniques used, the equipment’s used thus becoming one of the biggest businesses of the world.

We are always amazed about some noteworthy techniques in movies ,like the VFX (visual effects ) the props used in the movies like Jurassic park ,Godzilla terminator and the back to the future series and also the famous movies like Ethan the recent fictional movies like The advance code ,The matrix series ,Inception are a threat to our eyes .

The astronomical movies like the star wars, Apollo 11, Gravity and interstellar are just mesmerising.

There are many movies in the world which has made a strong impact in the minds of people. And some of them have also changed the lifestyle of many. Great movies are not only entertainers but also have loads of acquirements. It creates an opportunity for oneself to learn a lot from the great movies.

Here are some
movies that have impacted society. Pursuit of happyness is one of the greatest movies of all times. Which is based on a true story about the founder Garden Rich Corporation, Chris Gardner the main character in this movie exquisitely demonstrated of how one can overcome the obstacles of life.

Shawshank Redemption is also based on true story based a on a person called Allen Greene a type of movie which is liked by all and which is understood by all. From this movie one can draw parallels to this concept in actual life as well ,also real life based movies like Titanic and are amazing to watch.

We can never forget dedicated actors like Bruce lee and Jackie Chan who have taken martial arts and fight science to a new level.

Indian Cinema industry has also seen pioneers like Dada Saheb Palke who is known to produce the first motion picture in India, great directors like B.R panthalu and Puttana Kanagal had the zeal to bring out new ideas and convert them into a good movies.we have also seen some phenomenal movies like Mr. X (1957) a classic Ashok Kumar starrer. Which displayed the immeasurable fancy of the director Nanabhai Bhatt, Some of the classic movies are Sholay, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge(DDLJ) , Jewel Thief, Indian (Tamil), Om (Kannada). There are plentiful movies which fall under this class.

It is the job of the performers to give life to the characters in the movie. The lists of great actors are in fact endless. We have handpicked a few who are exceptionally notable actors globally. Charlie Chaplin, Marlon Brando, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman, Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, N T Rama Rao, Dr. Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan Shankarnag, RajiniKanth, Kamal Hassan and Mammootty.

The recent trends.

A lot regionalism has been developed in the Indian Cinema in the recent past. People are becoming language biased. Since a movie is an art, it shall be our passion to appreciate all the good movies.

Recently we watched this Kannada movie titled Rangitaranga which happens to be a very unique movie. One of the best psychological thrillers of all time. It casts a very young team and the direction is astonishing and has taken the art of movie making altogether to a different dimension.

Well this is just a Bird’s eye view about cinema we will back with more .

Thanks a lot for your time, have a great evening.

Namma Kannada

Hello readers,

Hope you all are doing great.

Just learning to think in another language ,allows you to see your own culture,in a better view point.
-Gate Mcfadden.

Kannada is the one of the oldest languages in the major Dravidian languages and it is a 2500 year old language. It is the state language of Karnataka. It is the only language which has got 8 Gnana Peetha Awards. It is also a phonetic language which is spelled as it is written. First Kannada-English dictionary was written by Reverend Ferdinand Kittel.

Reverend Ferdinand Kittel was a priest and indologist with the Basel Mission in south India and worked in Mangalore, Madikeri and Dharwad in Karnataka

We have read in history that ,there was a time when India was so united ,by its culture and secularism ,and some strategists in the great empire ,where the sun never set ,devised a plan to destroy this unity ,and injected its system of education ,and English as an official language ,and broke India into pieces.

Now even after 60 odd years after that have left our country we are still not proud our own culture and regional languages, which is actually illogical.

But now this, great language’s situation is grave at its home Bengaluru the capital city of Karnataka. Which is very unfortunate?

There are many long-time settlers in Bengaluru who don't know how to speak in Kannada beyond certain elementary words. Adding to this there are some people who are not even aware of the existence of Kannada. We are not exaggerating this statement. We experienced it in a verbal encounter with a person who was hailing from northern part of India. Why are people becoming hesitant to learn Kannada? Is it the fact that they have survived/managed without learning this language for a long time. Does it make any sense? This grave situation does not only exist in Bengaluru but also is also scattering to even many other parts of Karnataka State.

There are almost 60% of them who are dwelling in Bengaluru without learning Kannada. If the people’s residence in the city is for a shorter time and unsure future, then there may be an excuse for not learning the language. But it doesn't make any sense for the long time settlers not to learn the language.

When we look at our neighbouring states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala, it would be highly impossible to even survive for a day without knowing it regional language. This is a clear indication that the people there are extremely devoted toward their language. Why is it not just happening in Bengaluru? And it has come to a situation where even the local people of Bengaluru are hesitant to speak in Kannada in public places barring their homes.

The people have developed an inferior complex toward this language. They think that speaking in Kannada would harm their self-image. The grass root of this problem starts at the home, where the parents are not encouraging their kids to learn Kannada. The parents have developed a fear complex that, if their kids speak in Kannada there would be no social acceptance by the people. Aren’t all these irrational outlooks of the people? If you don’t respect the language of that particular state, then definitely you are not a true patriot.

There are many Kannada activists groups in the state. But what work have they have done to ensure that Kannada is spoken widely and the speakers rates are not deteriorating, which is happening in fact. The Government and the people jointly should take some aggressive measures against those who are perfidious toward the language. Only then we can see a ray of hope for the language.

It is a moral move by the Karnataka Government to make Kannada compulsory at schools. This has already been implemented by our neighbouring states. This will help the children to learn Kannada at schools and will act as an eye-opener.

We must praise the people of Tamilnadu and Kerala for, maintaining and the culture and showing patriotism towards their languages and region, which is the driving force for country to progress.
The Great Jnanapeeta prashasti winners.

Please understand, we are not trying to be language biased or communist, definitely not but we are very upset the way we treat our own languages, which are almost the oldest scriptures according to history.

The rapport has to be maintained from the natives and also the visitors or people who come to Bengaluru or any other region for work or business ,to develop the tolerance towards the hometowns language .

To conclude let’s start giving mutual respect to all regional languages and make that phrase ,one India ,the linguistically secular India dream come true. We must change our attitude, towards these sensitive issues, and be tolerant to all cultures and languages.

Those who know nothing of foreign languages ,Know nothing of their own.
Johann Wolfgan Von Goethe.

Let’s start this awareness from today .Thanks for your time friends.

Why not Entrepreneurship?

Hello readers,
Hope you all are doing great.

"A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new."
 - Albert Einstein

We all always vision and contemplate about people who have become successful and who have come out of their comfort zones to become someone. People touch great summits when they do what they love. In this blog we tap on the folks who have great implementable ideas and able to take extreme risks for the progress of self and the economy of a country as a whole. In short it is about entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurs are the key for the economic growth of a country and also act as a source of employment generation. Entrepreneurship is a process of actions of an entrepreneur. It is easy said than done. To become an entrepreneur one must accept the change and must have the ability to face the risk of failures.

Couple of our friends have their own start-ups. One is into the travel and tourism business and the other one is into aeronautical and mechanical engineering online coaching, providing opportunities for aspirants who wish to teach, and also take up pilot projects for companies. When we discussed with them they shared what difficulties they had to face and how did they overcome such difficulties and setup their own establishments. The former said that there is a high level of fierce competition in the travel and tourism industry and had to plan for this venture for 2 years and it was a tough job to convince family members and gain their confidence.  He added that he loved what he is doing and he was firm in his thinking and proceeded further. The latter explained us about ,the different attitudes of students towards ,taking up online coaching which is a relatively new concept in India.

According to them the most important aspect in entrepreneurship is networking. Without building contacts it would be highly impossible to survive in the market. It is the practical way of starting a venture.

In order to become successful entrepreneur’s it is a must to gain appropriate knowledge and the required skill sets and being proactive. Apart from these parameters establishing contacts is the key.

The Job creator.
Well if we just think for a minute, each day we work for a company, we have to realise this company now, which is very famous and may be spread around the world, was once a small entrepreneurship, so we all work due to that one single person who came out with this new idea and established a business, and also was smart enough to bring growth and opportunity in that venture, that generates employment. Isn’t that wonderful?

Becoming an impresario also helps a person in developing, a good quality that is self-management, actually the need of the hour for this generation, it gives a tremendous power to handle stress and shapes the person to a different level, and makes him a source of indefinite patience.

There is another aspect that we need to consider ,that is the economic concept ,of becoming an entrepreneur ,it definitely creates jobs as mentioned earlier ,and also boosts the economy of the country, we can definitely cut down on the goods we import in the FMCG sector (Fast Moving Consumer Goods),by building new products  similar to that available there, for which the first step is to become an industrialist

We would love to thank the Govt of India for their support for encouraging.
To conclude Entrepreneurship, is a wonderful tool for self-development as well as, a building block for many innovative projects, lets aim to become entrepreneurs in life..
All the best ,thanks for your time .
